AI for sustainable urban planning
The demo is organised by FCAI (Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence)
Artificial intelligence (AI) can offer great help in solving environmental challenges, e.g., through better urban planning.
When modeling complex systems, such as the traffic of an entire city, AI can help to study, for example, how to reduce traffic emissions efficiently. Simulation for Urban MObility (SUMO) is an open source simulation program that can be used to model traffic on a macro level. SUMO is used, among other things, in the CousCOUS and AIForLEssAuto projects, which utilize traffic simulations and AI to investigate the possibilities of reducing emissions and improving air quality in urban planning. In this demo, you can try out how SUMO works and see the traffic simulations in action!
