Materials Science
Workshop description
Organiser: Fibre and Particle Engineering research unit, Faculty of Technology, University of Oulu
Magnesia-based binders -research unit focuses on developing the future construction materials. One of the examples is a plaster-like material, which consists of a mineral that contains carbon dioxide. Perhaps in the future, construction could be storing CO2 instead of emitting it?
Workshop Activities:
- Introducton to the topic: A brief overview on materials science and utilization points
- Hands on experience: In the demo the students get to cast carbon-negative materials that behaves like plaster.
- Role models: There will be a Q&A session with successful women in the field discussing their career paths and achievements and sharing their experience with participants.
