Photogrammetry based 3D scanner
The demo is organised by Joose Lankia, sstudent at the School of Engineering and Mechatronic Circus -member
Photogrammetry is a 3D scanning method where an object is photographed from many different angles.
The multiple angles provide three-dimensional information about the surface of the object and this information can be used to create a realistic 3D model of the object. This is useful, for example, when modelling existing objects for product development or creating content for web and video games. The goal for this project was to build a device that will rotate an object on a platform and move a smartphone around it to take pictures from all the different directions. The data is processed by a smartphone app resulting the complete 3D model.
