What is Shaking up Tech?

Shaking up Tech is a free annual event organized by universities in January. It encourages young women and gender minorities to pursue studies in technology and engineering after high school. During the event day in January, we bring together women working in different fields of technology and engineering, organize workshops, and showcase the latest technologies. We provide a comprehensive overview of the technology and engineering sector and the career opportunities it offers.

Together with our stakeholders, Shaking up Tech aims to promote diversity, drive change in the industry, and broaden the pool of talent entering the field.

Young women have enough skills for studying and working in the filed of technology. At the event, you will meet women working and studying in the industry, as well as companies. You will also get to know other young people interested in the field!

The Shaking up Tech event, which started at Aalto University in 2018, is nowadays organized annually at the same time on several university campuses in January. Nearly all universities offering technology programs in Finland are involved. The next Shaking up Tech will be organized on 21 January 2027, on the campuses of Aalto University, LUT University, the University of Oulu, and Tampere University. The application period for the event is annually in October.

Shaking up Tech enables equal participation regardless of place of residence and parents' income level by offering participants a free event including travel costs at universities around Finland.
