Arrival

If you arrive in Lappeenranta by train, you will find a guide at the railway station who will direct you onward: on Wednesday to the hotel, and on Thursday morning to the LUT campus. You will also receive a bus ticket from the guide that allows you to travel to the campus and back on Thursday. You will recognize the guide by the Shaking up Tech sign.

On Thursday morning, register at the registration and info desk located on the 3rd floor.

Departure

After the event, participants can leave the campus by bus to the Lappeenranta travel centre or to the hotel located in the city centre. The Shaking up Tech staff will help you with schedules and bus routes.

If you are arriving at the event location from further away, Shaking up Tech will arrange accommodation for you in Lappeenranta. You are entitled to free accommodation for the night before and/or after the event if:

• You would have to leave home before 6:00 a.m. on the event day in order to arrive at the event location no later than 20 minutes before the event begins.
• You would not make it home before midnight on the event day if you left the event location at 19:00.

Please note that participants do not need to make an accommodation booking themselves; Shaking up Tech books participants' accommodation in accordance with the participation confirmations.

During the event, all meals are free of charge for participants. Please indicate any special dietary requirements on the spot acceptance form.

Breakfast at 9:00-9:45

You can sign up for breakfast when you accept your event spot. Hotel guests do not need to sign up for breakfast, as breakfast is included in their accommodation.

Lunch at 11:30-12:15

Lunch after the morning's talks at the LUT Buffet restaurant. The  speakers have also been invited to join the lunch.

Dinner at 17:30-19:00

Dinner is served at the Sitsit. 

Shaking up Tech reimburses travel costs incurred from travelling to the event for all event participants. On behalf of the participant, we apply for a tax-exempt grant to cover any travel costs within Finland (vero.fi/grants).  

Travel reimbursements for tickets are claimed with a travel reimbursement form, which we will send by email to all participants after the event.

We reimburse the use of a private car in accordance with the official Finnish kilometre allowance only for those parts of the journey that cannot be made using public transportation.

The travel reimbursement form is personal, and you can only claim reimbursements for your own expenses with the form. One form is used to claim reimbursement for one person's actual journeys, and the person claiming the expense reimbursement must be the user of the travel ticket.
