Workshops

From Code to Control: A Hands-On Journey into Robotics and Telepresence

Workshop description

Topic: Robotics

The goal of this workshop is to show the basic principles of robotics that govern the functioning of robots, get hands on experience to control.

Robotics workshop

Workshop Activities:

  1. Introduction to robotics: A brief overview of the basic modules (sensing-control-acting) of robotics and underlying principles will be given.
  2. Hands-On Experience: Participants will create a simple program (with the help of the instructor) for a robot to achieve a given task, first in simulation, later on a real robot (either a small manipulator or a mobile robot).
  3. Visit to the Mobile Robot Lab: Participants will see demonstrations of the real robots targeted for telepresence applications, in which a remote user can see and interact with the environment that the robot is located. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions to the researchers.

Organiser: Perception Engineering Group at the UBICOMP, Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, University of Oulu
Workshop language: English
Time: 12:30-13:30 and 14:00-15:00

The maximum amount of participants is 12 people/round.
