Can a Ring Learn Your Moves? Build an AI Wearable

Workshop description

Topic: open-source wearable technology, miniature sensors, data and AI
Language: English

AI ring

How can a tiny ring sense movement and learn what your hand is doing? In this hands-on workshop, you will work in a small team with SensWear, an open-source modular wearable platform. You will connect miniature sensor modules, view your own movement data live on a computer and teach a simple AI model to recognize a few hand gestures. You will then test how well the wearable can distinguish the gestures and invent an interaction it could control.

Along the way, you will meet researchers working with wearable technology and explore how open hardware can make future devices more creative, understandable and privacy-friendly. No previous experience in electronics, programming or AI is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to experiment!
