Clean water through photocatalysis
Workshop description
Subject: A brief overview of good water quality and photocatalysis
In this workshop, you will learn about water quality, pollution, and treatment methods.
We need clean water every day. This requires continuous development of water purification, as new harmful substances appear in waterways as a result of human activity. One interesting new purification method is photocatalysis.
You will gain hands-on experience with photocatalytic water purification and see how the process works in practice. During the practical session, you will also have the chance to talk with researchers about their work, studies, and career journeys.
Workshop activities:
- Introduction: A brief overview of water quality and photocatalysis.
- Practical session: In the workshop, students monitor photocatalytic water purification using UV-vis measurements, while learning more about the topic at the same time.
- Role models: during the workshops, students can talk with female researchers about their studies, career paths, and achievements.
