Feel good materials
Workshop description
Topic: sustainable materials for buildings
Language: English
Asthma, dry eyes, itchy skin, difficulty concentrating.
These aren't just random health complaints, they're symptoms of what we call the "Sick Building Syndrome".
Modern buildings can make us feel sick. But they do not have to.
What if, instead of high-carbon and plastic-based materials, we chose sustainable natural, healthy, and sustainable alternatives? What if we learned from historical and vernacular building techniques and start using natural plant fiber in our building materials? Together, we explore how these materials can help us build more sustainable, comfortable, and healthy buildings.
You will:
- Feel and experience natural clay and biofiber materials firsthand
- Create your own material through practical hands-on making of construction blocks from clay and biofibers
- Learn about how sustainable material choices benefit health, comfort, and the planet
