Hydrogels and crosslinking methods
Workshop description
Topic: biomedical engineering, biomaterials
The workshop offers the possibility to familiarize yourself with hydrogels and their crosslinking methods from both theoretical and experimental perspectives.
Hydrogel is a 3D network of polymer chains linked together resembling the composition of biological tissues. You will see how to activate the crosslinking of polymer precursor solution to form a hydrogel with light, for instance. Hydrogels are utilized e.g. in contact lenses, drug delivery and as cell culturing scaffolds instead of actual biological tissues.
